The system works by emitting ultrasonic waves from the sensor heads covering a large area behind your Car, Van, Jeep or Commercial Vehicle.. The beams are reflected by obstructions behind your Car, Van, Jeep or Commercial Vehicle., and re-enter the sensors. The reflected beam information is processed to calculate the distance from your Car, Van, Jeep or Commercial Vehicle. to the obstacle behind. The parking sensor system is activated when reverse gear is engaged and stays active for as long as the vehicle is in reverse gear. When the vehicle is less than 1.5 metres from an obstacle behind the car the audible alert will emit intermittent beeps. As your Car, Van, Jeep or Commercial Vehicle. gets closer to any obstacle behind the vehicle the frequency of the beeps increases. At 40 centimetres from any obstacle behind the vehicle the beeps become a continuous solid tone.
